One of the great things about living in a small community is interconnectedness. It’s good to know how people are doing, who needs a helping hand and that the local church has bargains like the tapa table runner I bought yesterday.

It’s also good to feel as if you have a voice and can shape how your suburb/city is.

Yesterday I visited local artist Kerry Scott, who is working on a sculpture for our local ‘village’ (I think ‘village’ is a bit twee myself, but there you go). She was working on the mosaic sculpture and also teaching some of our members how to do the mosaics so that they learned some basic skills and would understand the process and thus be able to share their experiences with others.

It’s a development that’s been going on for sometime and we are hoping that at the end of this month it will be erected – like a pou or marker to the entrance to our suburb.

And of course we’ll make a digital story.
